FLEX Tracks
FLEX programs help students work towards college admissions at
various points in their academic careers. Our courses and
services are designed to:
- improve basic reading, writing and critical thinking skills
- raise academic performance in school (GPA)
- maximize standardized test scores
The FLEX recommended course track is as follows:
Grades 6-7
Students are still building foundational skills and developing
critical thinking and problem-solving ability. FLEX
recommends:
- Book Club (Basic reading skills)
- Elements of the Essay (General writing skills) and/or Personal
Narrative Essay (General and creative writing skills)
Grades 8-9
Students begin to develop those skills necessary to succeed in
college prep courses and entrance exams (SAT*, ACT*).
FLEX recommends:
- Elements of the Essay, Personal Narrative Essay and/or Literature
Analysis (HS English)
- Math Olympiad
- SAT* Junior
Grades 9-10
Students begin to focus on the key criteria for college
admissions: GPA and SAT*.
FLEX recommends:
- Persuasive Essay (SAT* I Essay Prep) and/or Literature Analysis
- SAT* Junior and/or SAT* Workshops
- Tutorials (Various academic subjects)
- College Admissions Counseling
Grades 10-11
Students enter the most important phase of their college
admissions process. High GPA and standardized test scores are
key. FLEX recommends:
- Persuasive Essay, Literature Analysis and/or The Personal
Statement (College Application Essay)
- SAT* Workshops and Tutorials, SAT* Subject Test Workshops and Tutorials
- Tutorials (Various academic subjects)
- College Admissions Counseling
Grade 12
Students must complete all their requirements for college
admissions, including standardized tests and the college application.
FLEX recommends:
- SAT* and SAT* Subject Test Workshops and Tutorials
- Personal Statement and/or College Admissions Essay Editing
- College Admissions Counseling
